Calvin's first airplane ride went wonderfully. We had to get up at 4am for our flight at 6:45am and he fussed for a couple minutes but not even a real cry as we left Denver on Thursday morning. He slept most of the way to Minnesota and then for about the last 20 minutes, we played "kiss the baby head" and "over the head" games that we like to play.
We rented a car and drove to Roseville and waited for Grandma (Deanna) at the Target there. She arrived soon after we got there, it was so wonderful to see her. We did some quick shopping at Target and then headed up to see Vicki and Jerry. Calvin, having been taken out of his usual schedule and being surrounded by people he didn't know, was not happy about being held by anyone but me. And even that didn't make him terribly happy. After a quick visit with Vicki and Jerry, it was off to the hotel to meet Uncle Austin.
We stayed with Grandma in the Comfort Inn in Coon Rapids, Minnesota and Uncle Austin stayed in a room down the hall with his puppy Bella. Bella is so cute! A tiny little ball of sweet energy!
The 4 of us went out to dinner that evening and then I went and met back up with Vicki. While I was out, Grandma gave Calvin a bath in the hotel bathroom sink where he blessed the bathroom in the way only baby boys can: a fountain of urine. Unfortunately Calvin was not happy about being separate from me and gave Grandma and Uncle Austin a hard time until I arrived back at the hotel. So Calvin came with me to take Vicki home.
On Friday, Grandma went to a training session while I went with Vicki to get our nails done in preparation for the big day! Austin and Calvin came with us and went grocery shopping and hung out outside while our nails were finished. Then it was off to take a much needed nap. That evening we met Vicki at the church and helped decorate a little bit before turning in for the night.
Saturday was the day of the wedding! Uncle Austin's friend James came to have breakfast with us and the 5 of us went to IHOP, which was my favorite restaurant during pregnancy. There was nothing better than pancakes and hashbrowns with maple syrup! Calvin ate his rice cereal and bananas while the rest of us ate our IHOP meals.
After breakfast, Austin had to leave so we said goodbye and I proceeded to pack our belongings as that was our last day at the hotel. After the wedding we were going to stay with Dana in Savage.
